hopelessly loved it! December 11, 2008 i loved this book! having read going home, i was slightly disappointed to find a slow start in this novel, but the pace quickens with the turn of a page! a hopeless romantic deals with the feelings we all have when we fall for somebody, lust, jealousy, anxiety! the story is so sweet natured, and the ending matches this! would highly recommend as a holiday read!
Terrible. November 30, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's not often I don't finish a book, but I just couldn't get into it. The main protagonist is so utterly unlike-able. And I don't actually think that for the obvious reason - her sexual relationship with a man who is already attached to somebody she knows. I think that for her weak and feeble character. She's altogether flaky and unapologetic, and allows herself to be obviously used in the most pathetic way. Honestly, save your pennies for a much better read. If you're looking for romantic, try Freya North - Pillow Talk.

I really did like this book. Having said this though, some parts dragged on a bit and were quite boring. The best bits were when both Nick and Laura were in it as this was great. There weren't any faults at all when these were in in it; it is this reason that I am willing to give this book four stars because I loved their love story.
The Perfect Adult Fairytale October 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this book! Having read and enjoyed Harriet Evans first novel Going Home I couldn't wait to read A Hopeless Romantic and it lived up to my expectations and more and has now gone on to be one of my all time favorite books. I cried whilst reading the end of this book but unlike other books not because I was sad but because I was so happy. This book is the perfect adult fairytale to get lost in. Full of lovable characters, an enchanting story and both funny and heartbreaking moments it's a must read for any hopeless romantic.
