5 out of 5 stars breathtaking account of firsthand combat   June 30, 2008
You will not be able to put this book down i guarantee! Sergeant Dan Mills opens a door to a World most of us "civvies" cant even contemplate or beleive. A simply stunning and awesome account of British troops at War in the 21st Century and beleive me i am as proud of our fighting men today. Read this book and maybe some of you out there wake up to the realities and hardships our fighting troops are facing, not just in Iraq but in Afghanistan also.
I have total respect for all our boys in the Armed forces (the most professional troops in the World) battling on like the lions they are. Trouble is lords and masters in Whitehall and the MOD are still the donkeys leading them.
Give these men the pay, equipment and respect they deserve. Read this book asnd you will not be dissapointed, worth every penny

5 out of 5 stars Sniper One - A pleasure to read   June 29, 2008
I'm thankful for the day Sgt Dan Mills decided to tell this compelling tale of gallantry. One of the best books I have ever read I could hardly put it down. Having served in Al Almarah myself, the book tells it actually how it is. I enjoyed the first person native that certainly did not hold back on his or the men under his commands feelings of the situation they were in. Based on a event that very few of the British Public knew about until now, Sniper One was truly a pleasure to read.

5 out of 5 stars Astonishing   June 26, 2008
This book gripped me from page one through to the end. Dan Mills paints such a vivid picture, scarey to the extreme and will bring the reader right into the heart of the battle. His vivid memories, so gloriously put to pen, paint such evocative scenes the savagery is hard edged. This is no line em up and shoot at each other story. Every politician should be made to read this, NOW.

5 out of 5 stars 5 *   June 20, 2008
Without doubt the best book to come out of the middle east since Bravo Two Zero and its better than that, This would make a brilliant film "Black hawk down" beater congtrats to Dan Mills. Simply brilliant

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   June 9, 2008
An absolutley fantastic read. I only bought this book because it was on special offer, but I ended up reading it in two days.
I was expecting tales of a sniper sneaking around in the undergrowth (desert?) taking pot shots at passing insurgents. What I got was a no -holds barred, unpretentious modern day Custer's Last Stand (with a happier ending for the good guys!)
Easy to read, and told in the style only a British soldier can, this a tale of true professionalism, courage and the positive attitude in dire circumstances that is synonomous of our armed forces.
