No romance November 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love The Truth About Forever and Just Listen and expected another romance, cleverly written and beautifully told. Although this story was a nice and quite moving tale of two sisters and their changing relationship, it lacked the depth, and the plot of Dessen's other books. And there was no romance at all. :-(
worst. book. ever October 25, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I lover sarah dessen books and have read nearly all of them, but this one stumps me. HOW can anyone in their right minds think that this book is good: it is plotless, boring, a complete waste of nearly 200 pages, and you have apsolutely no empathy with the characters. Spend the time you would have spent reading this reading one of her other books (Just Listen or This Lullaby are best) because you will gain nothing from this book unlike in her other books.
u have to love it January 8, 2001 25 out of 42 found this review helpful
this book is so beautiful. it really is amazing. the last line of the book sums it all up, i can't say what it is cos that would ruin it. i just lent my copy to my mate, and the reason i wanted her to read it is the last line. if u buy they book don't open it at the last page, it won't make sense, read it, savour it, love it, and understand it. u will, anyone could. the characters are described perfectly especially haven and sumner. when u read it u r them, u understand them, u love them. it's worth reading, it really is. it starts with a poem called at every wedding someone stays at home, which is perfect. i've never read a book like, and i never will again. it is so amazing. read it and see what i mean
The best book I have ever read. April 15, 2000 35 out of 47 found this review helpful
This is my favourite book. I have read it every three months since I bought it two years ago, not out of habit, but because I still love it, and it gets better every time. Though I have not gone through all of the things that happen to Haven, she seems so like me and perhaps that's why I like it. The feelings and thoughts of Haven are so realistic and any teenager, or any adult who was ever a teenager, will totally identify. The things that Haven experiences (for example her parents splitting up and re-marrying) are just a carrier to show that Haven grows up mentally from a kid to an adult, and realises that nothing is perfect, lasts forever, or what seems good for you was not a perfect for everyone else.
