Some good recipes, very confusing layout August 20, 2010 Jude the Obscure (Dublin) This is the first time I've tried a book by Nigella, and I've been quite confused by how it is organised. I understood the 'breakfast' chapter, but I couldn't see the rationale for how the other ones were separated out. I don't expect divisions of 'fish' 'pork' etc, nor of 'starters' 'mains' etc, so I hope it wasn't fussiness (or dim-wittedness) on my part.
I've only tried a few recipes so far, and thought one was GREAT (margarita ice-cream: delicious and very straightforward), one was nice (cheese risotto) and one was disappointing (soy sauce salmon). For now, I think it is a mixed bag.
As a small aside, Nigella is so enthusiastic about every recipe that I find it hard to deduce which ones she most hopes we (as readers/cooks) will try first (or at all, given that most people only use a handful of recipes from each book they own).
Truly Inspirational July 8, 2010 Brad280892 A modern classic - forget the old Delia's and move with the times - the book features hundreds of mouth watering recipes and ideas, all of which are full of flavour but quick on time. Everybody must own this book, whether your life is as chaotic as the London Blitz or just a busy scramble of everyday tasks this book can take you on a journey of flavour with only moments of effort involved.
A must have ! July 6, 2010 Mme L. Cecile (France) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a huge fan of Nigella ...and this book is no exception ...
I tried already loads of recipe from this book and as usual they are perfects ...and I can impress my hubby and friends with a minimum effort !
Delicious quick dishes July 5, 2010 A. Cocovini Until now Jamies' Dinners was the recipe book of choice in our kitchen, but it was time to move on to something new. Having been recommended Nigella Express by countless good friends I finally gave in and ordered my very own copy. When it arrived I sat down and thumbed through the recipes, folding down the corner of every dish I planned to make. In the three weeks we've had the book we've eaten 'Nigella' about ten times - not bad going. Rocky Road is a favourite, and the steak with white bean mash was yummy. I'm saving a few of the wintery ones for when the weather gets colder.
Roll on winter, Nigella awaits.
excellent book for lazy cooks but lovers of good food June 23, 2010 Mrs. M. D. Berlin (Lanzarote Canary isles) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw Nigella's programme "Nigella Express" on T.V. so I knew what I was getting!
