Definately buy/read this book but would recommend reading the Mortal Instruments in order"City of Bones and City of Ashes" 1st. I couldnt put the books down, but watch out other home duties might suffer for it, lol.Enjoy :)

What a fantastic end to a brilliant series of books, I actually went to bed early on boxing day so I could finish it. After reading the twilight saga, and all of LJ Smiths vampire books I thought it would be hard to find anything as good but I was pleasently surprized. They weren't your normal run of the mill vampire stories, just something different. I am a married mum of 45, but still love to read these fantasy type books I think its keeps me young. At least there is no smut in these books just great story telling. Well done!

The Mortal Instruments has got to be my favourite book series to date.
It combines a heroic race of people (Nephillim) in a constant battle with the dark 'souless' side (demons) Nephillim have to decide whether to join forces with Downworlders (werewolves, vamps, warlocks and faeries) in order to defeat the demons and an old enemy Valentine (also Nephillim), with my favourite theme - the edge-of-your-seat romance between Jace and Clary. I have to admit i guessed from very early on that they were not related and it was inevitable they would get together, but even in being predictable, i found myself constantly routing for them both to find out, very good stuff :)
The complete series keeps up fantastic pace, packed with extraordinary descriptive visions and creatures from Clare.
Clare has completely created a world in my head that is so believable it has kept me hooked from the moment i first bought City of Bones. I have read these 3 books countless times and will keep returning until the release of 'City of Fallen Angels'
Recommend this to anyone who loves nothing more than to let themselves drift into another world the moment they open a book!

This is the final book in the first Mortal Instruments trilogy and picks up just after the end of the events of City of Ashes. Clary is after a cure for her mom, and she discovers that someone who may know about the cure exists, in Idris home of the Shadowhunters. But Jace doesn't want her going and does what he can to stop her getting there. But Clary being Clary, she gets herself there anyway, ignoring all advice from those who know so much more than her. It doesn't take the young Shadowhunters long to realise things are worse than expected in Alicante and that Valentine is very close to achieving exactly what he wants.
It was clear from near the end of the second book to readers what the outcome of the Clary/Jace situation would be. And yet, it becomes the all consuming storyline through this book, with other things being pushed to the side for it, and you have to wonder why they didn't figure it out long, long before they did. The tension that should have been there wasn't, because it was far too obvious what was going to happen and Clary and Jace just repeated the same things over and over getting ever more tiresome.
Clary's inability to learn to listen to those around her who have far more experience with what she's dealing with has become annoying as well. The character death that occurs in this book should have been hard hitting, but it's quickly pushed aside for more angst in the Clary, Jace camp. There is a flashback scene in Valentines house which is well done and one of the few highlights of the book. Otherwise, the book is very predictable with few surprises along the way. It's pretty easy reading so you can finish pretty quick despite it's length, and I still liked it, but it could have been better. The main plots get well wrapped up come the end, but there are a few subplots that get just partially wrapped up very briefly. But things aren't so neat that there's no space for more with the characters, which is a good thing for fans of the series. For me, not sure I'd pick up another book about Clary and Jace. I think I've had my fill.

The long-awaited finale to Cassandra Clare's fantastic His Mortal Instruments trilogy. It was perfect in every way.
Clare has a talent for creating such wonderfully real characters who you can't help but fall completely in love with. It was wonderful to follow these characters through the third and final stage of their gripping journey where we go to the home of the shadowhunters. Full of twists and turns that had me guessing what was going to happen next.
Fans of Twilight will adore this book; even non-fans - like me - will love it! City of Bones, book 1, is described as being "funny, dark and sexy" - there are no words truer and City of Glass is no different. If anything, more so.
The rollercoaster of events - sad, gripping, tense, no matter what, was held together by the fabulous Magnus Bane who has to be the highlight of all three books for me. If there is no other reason for reading it, there is Magnus Bane! Love him!
So read it, for goodness' sake! What are you people waiting for!
