5 out of 5 stars Edward   October 4, 2008
I wont describe the plot because it very comlex and ultimatley i think it would be best left as a suprise. Although i will say this. If your prepared to fall in love with a book charactor (Edward Cullen) and are looking for something with romance, action and drama then this is the book for you! (cheesy i know lol). Its one of the best books ive read in a long time and would reccomend it to everyone. (myself and my girlfriends think every boy should read this book and look to Edward as a sort of role model). The story line to this will be on your mind at all times during the reading and its an amazing book. i would say read the book before the film comes out (yes there is a film out soon) as watching a film before reading the book generally ruins the book and i wouldnt want that for anyone!

4 out of 5 stars Tat that is absorbing   October 3, 2008
not bad for a kiddies book. all that angst etc. shame some the actual writing was a bit bland, i.e., describing teh main character as 'looking furious' most of teh time, although the main male character is the best thing of teh whole series. a schoolgirls dream man. this is where the series gets its votes with the very young female readers.the beggining of teh next installment added at teh end with a cliff hanger is also a clever marketing ploy for you to rush out and buy the next book.
some of teh other characters in teh story are also unbeleivable. why would Charlie let his daughter stay out all night doing what she likes? the writer tries to make you think of him as homer simpson when in fact he's a well respected policeman.
story of mush that while isnt excellant is strangely absorbing.even for someone like me in their twenties.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant   October 1, 2008
i thought it was a brilliant book i read it around work and college, and still managed to finnish it in two days, i couldnt put it down!!!

5 out of 5 stars Twilight saga   September 26, 2008
I listened to this as an audiobook read by Ilyana Kadushin so I can't vouch for the typos and grammatical errors other readers have mentioned. Ilyana's voice was pleasant, soft and a bit raspy, once in a while some sort of accent drifted in but quickly disappeared. Sometimes she came off as if she was just reading boredly off the page without putting any emotion into the sentences at all. (In comparison to the vivid and lively Jim Dales reading of the Harry Potter Series or Anne Hathaway's reading of the Princess Diaries) all in all an ok performance, I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

I felt that the story itself was very boring. A girl falls in love with a good looking face to the point where she's willing to give up all her friends, her family, her life, even her soul. Sounds like an alcoholic or a drug addict. Apparently the boy feels the same way too but he's more in love with her smell.
It's all pretty shallow. If Edward was fugly would she even care? Edward would be like "OMG Bella I love your smell! Plzbe my g/f!!" And Bella would be all '"GTFO Creep!" I glared and grimaced!'
You know I'm right!
The next bunch of chapters is just dialogues where she cringes, grimaces and glares glares glares, she literally glares at least once per minute. and if shes not glaring someone else is. I understand that when theres lots of dialogue the author wants to put tags there to make sure the reader can figure out who said what but this was pretty ridiculous.
after about 8 chapters of glaring the story suddenly picked up when three other vampires show up out of nowhere and the leader randomly decides he wants him some Bella. so, instead of just squishing him like a bug, the gang goes on a wild goose chase in which lame predicatable drama ensues and THEN surprise the bad guy gets squished like a bug.
and then Bella and Edward sigh glare grimace and cringe at each other some more. If you enjoy young adult, Alex Rider, Jason Steed and Ravens Gate books you will really love the Twilight Saga
