I chose to do baby sign(she is not a deaf child) with our wee one from around 4 months,after a ropey start with some American sign books,finally found some British ones-these are great and very useful.Even got the local library convinced to get them in!
Our wee one is now 2 and her speech and command of language is amazing.SHe is very advanced for her age and I believe that using baby sign has in part given her that advantage.

We decided to give baby signing a try but didn't really know where to start. This book gives you some good ideas which signs to start with. And in addition the beautiful illustrations make this book a nice picture book for your baby to look at.

I bought this book and the 'Sing and Sign' DVD and probably didn't need to bother with both. The pictures are very cute, but undeniably it's easier to learn a sign when you see someone doing it, so probably wouldn't recommend getting both
Perfect for little ones May 25, 2010

I bought this to use with my 10 month old daughter as I couldn't find a baby signing class nearby. It is the perfect age to start and already she has started to use the sign for drink and bird!!! The words covered in the book are varied and just right for this age. It is well illustrated for use with the older child too. I am introducing 3 or 4 signs at a time. Two signs in a couple of weeks is pretty good going. I'm thinking about buying the nursery rhyme books next.
