From the useful to the ridiculous July 23, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this as I had heard Janey on the radio extolling the virtues of coconut oil. Having read through it, the book certainly contains some interesting bits and pieces.
The first few chapters concentrate on the big changes you can make and introduced me to some genuinely useful tips.
Unfortunately, Janey does tend to wander off into the realms of "hippy fantasy" at some points. Mentioning that humans have only been exposed to "Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMFs)" for the last 100 years, whilst apparently forgetting that light from the sun is also an EMF and has been around a few hundred million years before human beings.
She also draws a number of scientifically questionable conclusions regarding low-energy lightbulbs, based upon the anecdotal evidence of "a friend of hers" who swears her kitchen worktop is two degrees colder now she's switched bulbs - apparently heat flows downwards in her house!
Don't get me wrong - if you're based in Britain and are new to the idea of living more ecologically, this is a fine place to start. Those of you looking for a little more "meat" on the actual techniques would be better off checking out "It's not easy being green" by Dick Strawbridge.
Another great book from Janey June 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yet again another fabulous book from Janey. She makes it so easy for the rest of us to go further down our natural road. The book is presented in a pleasing way and the information is very helpful, including the websites for companies and suppliers. She shows us all how simple it can be to make our homes more natural with minimal effort. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Imperfectly Natural Home June 12, 2008 What a fantastic, informative book 'Imperfectly Natural Home' is. When I was doing Ecological Interior Design and Feng Shui I had about 20 books I needed to dip into - this book encapsulates ALL the information needed in one great, easy to read volume and points people in the right direction if they want to go into anything in more depth - it is absolutely definitive and I am already recommending it to all my friends.

Who would have thought that this easy to read book could get me excited about cleaning or spin dryers! Lots of the tips and suggestions will also help save me money too. I loved it so much that I have already bought another copy as a present for a friends birthday. I would definitely recommend you get this book - it is worth every penny.
