These 5 Star Reviews ARE real!!!! November 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
While most of the reviews are positively glowing (and rightly so) there are some naysayers here. Granted, a few don't understand the instructions. I understood them fine, but it seems not everyone is a natural 'visualizer', and are put off by the descriptions. (Hint - it's like when the trainer at the gym tells you to concentrate on your biceps contracting all the way when you're doing curls, the mental part pushes the physical to make it that much more effective, which is where things really count). And, the poor woman who has an undiagnosed illness and says the exercises have stretched her skin - they simply cannot stretch the skin. I have had to ease up on the cheek exercises because I wind up with over-pronounced cheeks that change my face a bit (so I only do it once a day, not twice. It's that effective). Unfortunately, her illness is what is causing her skin to lose elasticity and age (likely something causing inflammation), so it's a shame that the thing that can help her is in the trash bin.
I have been doing these exercises since the day I bought the book seven years ago. At age 30, I was already seeing my mother's jowels on my own jaw, and didn't relish the idea of looking more and more like a bulldog as I got older. Within a week they were diminished significantly, and at age 37, I don't even have jowel 'buds'. I can't imagine what I'd look like had I not stumbled upon this book. And I only do the routine once a day, not twice, so I have room to step it up when I'm in my 40s. The only place I have fine lines is under my eyes, but I don't have crowsfeet or laugh lines, and my nasal-labial folds just simply never deepened, they barely exist. My dreadfully thin lips actually have a raised lipline now, and my eyebrows are high and firm. People mistake me for being in my mid 20s on a regular basis, and I don't mind that at all!
I can see why some may think these reviews are fake, we just don't have 'miracle' fixes these days. These exercises are still a well-kept secret as the expensive creams are what's all the rage, but unfortunately they just don't do anything other than give you soft skin or temporarily firm. And people need to be willing to do a bit of work, nothing that's real is completely effortless. For the lady who thought it took too much time (10 minutes max a day? I do it in five and the results are still amazing) and gave the book to a charity shop, there is a stranger out there with far better skin than yours, and I bet she thanks you very much! And is 10,000 to get your face cut apart, suctioned, pulled and stapled really a better option? Or botox jabs at 300 a pop, every 6 months until your face becomes contorted with hard spots all over?
I came here today to get the link for this book to send to a new friend who nearly fell off her chair when she found out how old I am. She's 30, the same age as when I started, so she'll be able to enjoy decades of causing people to fall off their chairs.
Facercise Does Work!! November 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am 51 and although I look younger the last year especially, I have noticed a downturn and thinning of my lips, and soft pouchy jowls on my jawline. I have been using this for one week now and my lips are no long downturned and thin. I have a more pronounced jawline as the jowls have faded and my double chin is receding.
I was determined to make these work and the first time I did them it took me 50 minutes, the second day 40, the third 30 and now can do the first 14 exercises in 15 minutes. Don't be too concerned at first with assuming the position or whether your lying down or sitting. I just sat up straight and did them like that for the first few days.
A lot of the exercises involve visualizing which is difficult, but stick with it, concentrate and you will see results.
Too time consuming for me! November 6, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book may or may not work ... I don't really care to find out in the long term, it was way too time consuming for me. I just couldn't be bothered to spend 20 minutes every day exercising my face. I'd rather spend the time in bed. I would be much more attracted to the Eva Fraser 10 minutes 3 times a week idea! I didn't really like the idea of the repetitive exercises either. I think I gave this book away to a charity shop.
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant! September 12, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've had Eva Frasier's workout book for years. It was one of those things I picked up now and then when I felt I needed a facial workout. But it was also something I found quite tedious and consequently never kept it up.
Then I was googling for facial exercises and came across Carole Maggio on youtube and, quite frankly, it has changed my life. My face looks more toned and people comment on how fresh I look these days.
It's a lot easier to do than Eva's and the results are really quick. I don't like the idea of botox or any artificial product in my face but at 49 I also want to go down fighting on the aging front and this workout provides just that. It has reversed scowl lines between my brows and they continue to improve and smooth. I have to say I was amazed at this because this is an area that people succumb to botox for and mine were quite deep seated. I wish I'd known that this could have been a video review before hand as I'd have done a video journal to prove it.
Give it a try and keep going with it you will be amazed that with so little effort you can change and tone your face without surgery.
Good and bad June 7, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've been unwell since September 2007. My eyes are sore and swollen all the time and I feel generally rotten, and no doctor has been able to diagnose what's wrong with me. As a result, however, the skin under my eyes has become stretched and loose, and I've developed huge hollows under my eyes. I'm 34, and until recently people always thought I was in my 20's. So as you can imagine, it's quite disturbing to suddenly age 10+ years in a few short months (I definitely look my age now). So I decided to get this book, to try to do something about it. I've used it now for 2 weeks.
First the good... my hollows have been filled in. Not completely, but there is definitely an improvement. My cheekbones look much more defined. My swollen eyes are just as bad, but I reckon nothing short of surgery can help me there. My jawline is stronger.
Now the bad... it has definitely stretched my skin. I have loads of fine lines which I didn't have before, and some of the small acne scars and damaged pores are much more pronounced. My forehead is the most noticeably damaged area. There are many lines now that weren't there before. The exercises themselves are not particularly obvious to follow... I've since seen the video, and I was doing some of the exercises slightly wrong, and had misunderstood what she meant by "pulsing".
So I've stopped doing the exercises before any further damage is done, although I may continue with the eye exercises, because a few lines is better than the horrible hollows my mystery illness has created! So just be careful. Perhaps my skin is just easily damaged, but maybe yours is too.
EDIT: 11 days since I stopped the exercises and my face is in ruins. Huge lines and stretch marks and large craters have developed. My face has a jigsaw like appearance. I feel very, very, miserable. Approach this programme with extreme caution.
