An attractive book February 21, 2006

The story is a traditional one about a poor woodcutter who can't have children and is granted one wish by a fairy. He has to decide whether to wish for gold, a child or for his blind mother to be able to see again. I bought it for my 4 year old but felt that the story was more suited to a 5 or 6 year old so have put it aside for a year. It's beautifully illustrated - a very special-looking book, ideal for a present and quite unusual. Just a small tip for parents of girls - the faery / fairy is male, so don't buy it thinking it's going to be a girly book about fairies!
