Not really worth it February 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this course some 10 years when I began learning Spanish, and since then it hasnt been updated in any way. While the course itself is not bad, there are others available which are more modern and generally more interesting (I now teach languages and have seen a number of options for the "average" student beginning a foreign language course). The benefit of this one is that it focuses on communication rather than overloading you with grammar, but is somewhat basic and samey.
not one for everyone February 6, 2005 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I wouldn't recommend this course book to students wanting a thorough knowledge of the language. This book really just gives you the basics, it's more a book for people holidaying in Spain. The good thing is that there are many exercises to do, however they don't really explain the grammatical side of the language. As a language teacher, this is extremely annoying for me because grammar is the key to learning any language successfully.
a good book for the beginner November 10, 2004 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is the coursebook I am using for my college Spanish lessons and itis easy to follow, especially if accompanied by the CD'S. tv programmes run alongside the course throughout the year making this a comprehensive study course.
