Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars WELL RESEARCHED AND INTERESTING ........   September 11, 2008
.....account of the evolution of the New York newspaper industry, complete with a mighty cast of 'larger than life' characters such as James Gordon Bennett, Horace Greeley, William Randolph Hearst, Adolph Ochs, Joseph Pulitzer and arguably the most successful of them all, Joseph Medill Patterson.

The Author moves the story swiftly along packing in large dollops of carefully researched foreground and background on each Press Barons obsession to dominate the New York Paper market.Few stones were left unturned in insulting a rival proprietor, stealing his staff away or generally grinding him into the ground.

My compliments to Mr Turner for a good book well written.
