Not bad, once it gets going October 26, 2008 This is the first in this series I have read, and in no way did I get the feeling that I was missing out by coming in at book 5 in the series. I was slightly uncomfortable with this at the beginning - our heroine is humiliated (finding herself kneeling in front of alpha man, naked, in a public toilet - there's a good explanation, but even so...), condescended to (me alpha man, me know best), kissed within hours of meeting him to prove that he did indeed know best (which of course reduces her to mush, even though she wasn't seeking a kiss). I was beginning to think I wasn't up for such a wuss of a heroine when she finally finds some backbone and things improve. I also wasn't totally sure about their initial sex scene - sure it was realistic in that our (almost) virgin heroine struggled to accommodate alpha man (who is, of course, superbly endowed) but the struggle was maybe a tad over done. That said, once they'd got that little(!) problem out of the way the sex scenes were well written. Will I read any more of the series? I'm certainly not rushing out to find the rest right now, I might give it another try in a few days and see how I feel then.
A Roar of a Shape Shifting Romance October 16, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
It's been an interesting week for Kitty. She's nearly died in a car accident, discovered that she gets fanged and furry when she's terrified, and Kitty's found out that her dead father wasn't really killed in a car crash on prom night. Not only is daddy alive, he is the "Felix" (alpha) to a were-Lion pride in Las Vegas. While Kitty's in no hurry to forgive her dad for abandoning her-- in fact slapping him and giving him a great big piece of her mind is on the agenda -Kitty's practical side realizes that he has answers to all the questions about her new found powers. Kitty really needs to bring her inner "lioness" under control so it's off to "Sin City". But little does Kitty realize that with the lion shifting "Leos" she's going to end up with way more family than she ever imagined including half-siblings from hell and her father's "catty" ex-wife. Fortunately there is an upside in sexy powerful lion shifter Max who is her father's heir apparent. Kitty's freckles, forthrightness, innocence and spirit has Max realizing that while Kitty is nothing like the type of women/lionesses he normally dates, she is exactly the type of women he wants for his mate.
Walk on the Wild Side is a very good read, if you like this kind of romantic tale, me I love how Christine Warren writes, fun and sassy.
