As good as I remembered April 26, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I read this book as a child. It captivated me then. I have recently bought it for my daughter and reread it. I throughly enjoyed it, my daughter did too.
Impossible to put down. July 2, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
White boots is an extraordinary book, which once you've read the first page is impossible to put down. The story plot is gripping and unpredictable. With a spectacular ending. I would recommend anybody to buy this book.
As good today as it was when I was eleven June 8, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read this book as an eleven year old and now twenty years later it still stays with me in my memory as one of the best books I ever read! I wasn't sure if it would even still be in print. Thankfully it is, and is obviously appreciated by many. A great book for any age, but especially for adolescents - proof that if you really set your mind to it you can achieve anything.
Excellent book! April 24, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
White Boots, though not as good as some of Noel Streatfeild's other books, is excellent. You get such a feel of the characters, it's brilliantly written and the overall plot is great. I'd just like to add that you don't have to be an ice skater to enjoy this book - when I read it I'd never even been skating and I loved it!
This is one of my favorets October 16, 2000 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is one of my favorite books, and I am sad to say that I can only find it in California in the library. It is about a poor family where the girl gets sick, and is tired of watching to boats in the river, so her doctor suggests that she try ice-skating. The day she first tries ice-skating, Lalla's nurse introduces herself to Heather (the sick girl)'s mother. The nurse introduces the two girls which starts a good friendship, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes ice-skating, or just a plain good book. By the way, if you are from the USA, and have read the US version, it was called (though sadly out of print) Skating Shoes.
