DVD by Derek Scrimgeour August 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There is a DVD called The Shepherd's Pup by Derek Scrimgeour that is regarded by many as the best sheepdog training programme available. Well worth watching!!!!
Great insight into training sheepdogs October 11, 2005 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
We initially purchased this book as we now own one of Ben's (Dereks dog on the front cover) grandchildren. As much as our initial interest was to learn more about our dogs background we have also found that many of the techniques Derek has provided in the book are a great way to not only train your dog but also what makes a dog think and how to read your dogs behavouir and actions, which gives a brilliant result and a great relationship with your dog. It's early days yet but our dog is enjoying his training and we're getting alot of joy from providing the training and seeing the results.
Informative and a great read! June 14, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
A wonderful book which guides the reader through the essentials of sheepdog training in the same way that an experienced friend might do so over a glass of whisky. The reader is treated as a party to a conversation as might take place between Mr. Scrimgeour and his colleagues in the dog training world when 'talking sheepdogs' among themselves after a day's trialling. Try out his dvds, 'The Shepherd's Pup' and 'A Hill Shepherd Trains His Border Collies.' They're just as good.
