If you loved the earlier Pern books you will love this.
Although it's written by Todd rather than Anne, he has a very similar style and knows how to build believable characters.
The book comes across as very definitely a pern book, evoking the familiar images and feel of the earlier books while still feeling fresh and bringing different aspects of the world to view.
There is a very short section that can feel as if it drags while he's introducing all the characters but without it the characters would not work as well and once you have read that the pace picks up with life in the Weyr and the fall of Thread.
If you enjoy intelligent Scifi / fantasy or just love dragons this is an excellent read, perfect for long winter nights.

I bought this book as I'm a huge fan of the Pern series. I liked the first few pages but it got a bit boring as it all centred on Fiona not doing much, so I put it down (reluctantly) and then after a week or so went back to it and then couldn't put it down! very good, good story but there has to be a least 1 more book cause of lots of unaswered questions.
the product description is wrong though. its only about Fiona nothing to do with lorana so god knows why thats even on there. Def Buy It!
