awesome June 27, 2008 put it simply if you like GITS and cyberpunk themes you will love this book
A pleasing first attempt July 13, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I usually avoid TV tie-ins as I personally tend to find them, more often than not, to be soulless, hack written rubbish created solely to cash in on the franchise. This said I allowed my inordinate love of ghost in the shell, along with the very reasonable price, to spur me into buying all three books in one go. I have yet to read volumes two and three but it must be said volume one `The Lost Memory' is a very good effort. Even though you can see that this is the writer's first attempt at a novel his rather economic style lends the narrative a good pace. Add to this a clever plot, good characterisation and a well captured atmosphere and you have a book any GITSAC buff will thoroughly enjoy and I'm looking forward to the next two instalments.
Happy Surprise September 26, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Great adaption from the writer of the first series of GITS: Stand Alone Complex. I didn't really think at first the format would carry well outside the Anime and Graphic novel, but how pleasantly surprised i was. Well written and fast flowing it visualises the Digital world perfectly. I think that some of the subtleties in plot and story that are missed in the animated series are given a chance here and i will definately be following the series closely with the 2nd and 3rd Chapters already on order! Because it come from the team behind the series there's no plot holes or contradicting of the anime - give the first book a try and see what you think.
