I'm addicted December 31, 2008 I love this series! Feels like a mixture of Twilight and Anita Blake but neither as innocent or as bleak. I'm sticking with this series unlike with AB.
Surprising! December 22, 2008 I've always disliked books written in the first person - I want to know what EVERYone is thinking, not just the storyteller - but after ordering this book (not realising it was written in the first person) having exhausted my current favourite authors' supply, I thought I'd give it a go.
Oh my god - it's excellent!! The development of the story is like unwrapping a present, you think you have a handle on what is going on, when another layer is revealed. It's very clever and completely absorbing, as are all the books in the series so far.
I am so hoping that the continuation of the story will be just as engaging.
Great! December 11, 2008 I started looking at this series after beginning the Women of the other world series, it was reccomended by Kelley Armstrong readers, but I was pretty hostile because I like my fantasy books in a certain way. :S So when I started Uni and starting blabbing about my love for werewolves and all things supernatural, a girl in my class recommended I read Moon Called because she though I would love it. I decided then that I had to give it a go...and man am I glad that I did! I loved it! From beginning to end! It was great! The characters didnt annoy me and we got a great insight into the lives of werewolves and other creatures like the Fae, vamps and witches! Would defo reccomend this to werewolf lovers like myself! :D I've bought the next two and will start them tonight!
An enjojyable read November 28, 2008 Overall an enjoyable read that was well written and imaginative. Mercy is a likeable character and surrounded by a good supporting cast and in a perhaps oversaturated market Briggs' take on the supernatural was refreshing.
My only complaint would be an imbalance in the plot. I have no problems with the lack of romance, but as Briggs introduced the love interest angle and past relationships, I felt she should have given them a little more attention, at times this aspect wasn't well developed enough to have the impact that Briggs intended and as a result some scenes felt a little rushed in this regard.
Not the best... August 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found this book was poorly written as it seemed to throw in new charcters at random to try and bulk out the cast. When i reached the conclusion i was confused and just sort of assumed that the things they were talking about had been mentioned earlier in the book. I found that i didnt particularily care for the main charcter and as i result i will not be buying another book from the series. I think there are stronger written books from the genre.
