Amazon.co.uk Review Those used to the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho's esoteric novels will find this slim book rather different. Each page of Manual of the Warrior of Light is a new passage, an inspirational thought, a message of wisdom and guidance and encouragement. Who is the Warrior of Light? Any of us, reaching out to be the fullest person we can be, not afraid to have doubts and fears and to make mistakes and to learn from them. "That is why he is a warrior of light, because he has been through all this and yet has never lost hope of being better than he is." It is a path of tolerance: "In order to have faith in his own path, he does not need to prove that someone else's path is wrong." It is a path of intuition: "the warrior knows that intuition is God's alphabet and he continues listening to the wind and talking to the stars." If we are met with the same problems and situations over and over again, instead of becoming depressed we should learn: "Yes, you have been through all this before," replies his heart. "But you have never been beyond it." Then the warrior realises that these repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach him what he does not want to learn. Collected from Coelho's newspaper columns in the mid-90s, these short passages are not always easy or comfortable; but maybe that's because life isn't either. This is a book for dipping into for spiritual refreshment and sustenance. --David V Barrett

I feel nauseous July 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
An anonymous person sent me this book as a gift. S/he must have though it would benefit me in some way, or maybe s/he was just having a laugh. S/he needn't have bothered. It's meaningless, but sounds meaningful. Not since reading Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" have I come across such pretentious twaddle.
Read for a life-enhancing impact April 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very inspirational collection of short, quite simple at first sight, passages. Each page of the book is a new passage - a message of guidance, wisdom and encouragement. Each passage sets out to define a characteristic of 'the warrior of light', a concept I will not even attempt to explain here. Read the book, let your inner light shine and, in essence, live a better life.

This book is a must-have for the times that you despair and lose faith in yourself. At such times you need only open this book at a random page and let Coelho's wisdom renew your inner strength. This book is 100% pure inspiration. I highly recommend it!

Fabulous book, set in brief chapters, it captures the miracle of being alive. Very easy reading, whether you start at the beginning and work through or dip in anywhere for instant inspiration. Discover the Warrior of light that resides within each and every one of us with this timeless masterpiece by the author of "The Alchemist" Highly recommended!
Absolutely beautiful... September 14, 2006 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
There are a few books that I simply cannot be without and 'Warrior of Light' is one of those books'. It's insightful yet simple pearls of wisdom are both life affirming and thought provoking. Whenever I find myself feeling disconnected or lacking in faith, I open this book - turn to one of it's pages - and I am always left with a sense of hope and self worth; an effect which is, quite frankly, priceless. Highly recommended. ^_^
