awful December 3, 2008 this book is (if possible) worse than the last, it goes on and on and on and on .......... sorry fell asleep,i have read all of martinas books and these last 2 are my last, shame on you martina taking our hard earned money!!!!
Pity there's not a no stars option! December 3, 2008 I can't really add much more than what the last reviewer said about the book, only to say, I too was totally disappointed as I was really hoping to see the old Martina Cole returning, but not a chance. This book is almost as bad as Faces. Unbelievable characters and boring stupid story.
not what you expect from Martina Cole December 2, 2008 I was really disappointed with this book and also Martina Cole's last novel "Faces". I used to say that Martina Cole was my favourite author, but regret that this is no longer the case. In the business Martina just keeps on repeating the same things over and over again. You are told them same thing about the characters over and over again. I think i was told the main character was "a user, and not just a drug user" at least six times. The thoughts of the main characters four year old daughter were so unrealistic. A four year old would not be old enough to have the thoughts Martina Cole has put to paper! I am still a huge fan, but would recommend anyone thinking about buying this book to buy any of Martina Cole's first six novels or you are unlikely to read another if you start with this one! A very disappointed Marina Cole fan.
what a shame November 30, 2008 I have read all of Martina Cole's books and, up until her last, Faces, I have always found them an excellent read but sadly 'The Business' is actually the worse of them all.
The whole story could have been written in half the number of pages. Really boring.
Glad I borrowed the from the library and didn't spend money on it.
I agree with other reviewers, it feels as if Martina has given up trying as she knows that her name will sell the book.
I for one won't bother with the next one.
Disappointed ! November 28, 2008 This was so boring - Martina repeated the same thing over and over and over - the first 40 pages or so were good but it all went horribly wrong after that - I struggled to finish it - my mum and daughter have it and agree with me - they have it from the library unlike me who paid good money for it - wish I had waited - I had read an excellent book called Sadie before this and thought maybe that was why I hadn't enjoyed it as much but looking at the other reviews can see I am not the only one disappointed - I must say though I did enjoy the book Faces so much so I could of read it again -did not want that to finish but with this one was glad to see the back of it !
