Wonderful, uplifting and then sad - a book that stays with you! November 19, 2008 Amazingly written. I loved Nova, and we get to know Leo, even though he is in a coma. I cried buckets over this book, but it made me smile too. The friendship between Nova and Mal is a wonderful friendship, one that not everyone gets to have. You hate Mal at times, but also feel sorry for him... same with Stephanie. Whom you begin to understand as the chapters go on. Surrogacy is a controversal topic, but it beatifully done.
I would put this down as one of my favourite ever books, I certainly read late into the night with it. And was sad to finish it.
Oh. My. Gosh. How sad.... October 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read most of the author's books I was not expecting this mega-weepy read. My gosh, at the end, I was literally broken hearted; had a mega headache from the crying, and when I tried to explain what was the matter with me to my husband, who had quite clearly thought I'd finally flipped, I could not speak for crying/sobbing. What a profound effect this book has had on me. I would not describe myself as being low or depressed currently, but thought provoking and stunningly sad tis book certainly is. If a book is judged on how the reader is able to connect with the characters, then this book deserves every one of the 5 stars I have awarded it. Now, where did I put the panadol...?
Fabulous! October 19, 2008 What a fabulous read. Was sobbing by the end. Thoroughly recommend it as its one of the best chick lit books I've read.Goodnight, Beautiful
very very VERY good! September 14, 2008 I picked up this book after noticing an advert on the underground. Having read the vast majority of books by Dorothy Koomson and enjoyed both My Best Friend's Girl and Marshmallows for Breakfast immensely, I looked forward to getting my teeth into another read. I was indeed glad I had picked it up! It is definately one of the best books I've ever read. It was so good, I even picked one up for my friend!! If you choose to read this book you will not be disappointed. It tackles difficult topics very well, and succeeds in envoking emotions. Nothing short of brill!!! =)
have some tissues ready September 13, 2008 Wow, how I cried!!! its been a long time since a book has made me cry so much. What a fantastic rollercoaster of emotions. It makes you think of what you would feel if your child was in that situation, would we cope? Nova is a fabulous character, I loved Leo's bit through the book, the last page of this will stay with you for a long time, the love and connection between a mother and her son is wonderfully written. I couldnt read through the tears the last 50 pages. A great read. Thank you Dorothy.
