Red Eagles - Constant Peg, a Cold War secret revealed September 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Steve Davies has put together the story of one of the most secret US Air Force units of the entire Cold War. Based on his interviews with unit commanders, pilots and maintainers he has weaved together a series of anecdotes and technical information that convey the struggles, security issues, dangers and humour involved in setting up and then operating a miniature Soviet fighter squadron in the Nevada desert. This is a thoroughly readable book and very hard to put down. It is also a lasting work of research that will benefit everyone with an interest in the history of the US Air Force and 'black' projects.
Highly recommended !
Haydn Hughes.
