5 out of 5 stars HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?   March 10, 2008

After all the success that Westlife have had this past 10 years and you review their new single like you have guys? Come on...... they have been more successful than the Beatles ever were, have an exceptionally LOYAL based army of fans ALL OVER THE WORLD whose new album and single most certainly does not disappoint. Look at the one hit wonders that have been in the charts this past 10 years - where are they now?? Westlife DO NOT disappoint with this single, Simon Cowell has hit the nail on the head with these guys, even if Bryan did leave. It's a dedication to their fans who have been with them from the absolute start and it really really doesn't disappoint - it's pure Westlife. Yes they may do covers but obviously people like what they do with these singles, not that every single has been a cover. Westlife are here for as long as us genuine, loyal fans want them. Westlife WE LOVE YOU and for those who don't, exercise your fingers and change the station!!!! Go out and buy people - they work hard and deserve more than ever to be No 1.

5 out of 5 stars Jealousy of all those breathtaking Harmonies.   March 8, 2008

Come on. Don't care about those aren't strong enough to say what they secretly love in the back of their heart. I just can't imagine someone can't fell in love with those Harmonies, those backing vocals like on Puzzle of my heart, Walk Away or Obvious. Maybe they're just angry that they aren't into the Westlife thing and so they reject them as a reason of being huffy. Huffy since they can't enjoy what acutally love and NEED.
Everyone seeks Harmonies. Inside and Outside. Inside the heart and Outside--> with music.

Anyway, again I just can agree to Cats Waller. Just the point I think is wrong with Releasing I do or track 12. The simple chart listener's heart is not big enough to understand the meaning, emotion and power of songs like You Must Have Had A Broken Heart. Again I'd say it is something about being huffy because they aren't in to it. And so they reject it.

This is something the managment does right. Not releasing songs like Close Your Eyes, I do, Close or Love Takes Two. These songs wouldn't go well in the charts since they are too comprehensive. Need a long time until you know the right melody by the violins. Of all violins and all other cellos and horns. Big Opera Pop Music. Like WE ARE ONE was.

5 out of 5 stars I totaly agree to what Cats Waller has written   March 8, 2008

This is the opinion of the most Westlife Fans. We give all what we've got, our love, our hearts, our time and our money to Westlife.
And it really causes some serious anger inside of me, that Simon Cowell
doesn't give his best for the best of Westlife. The best Pop Act around the World in this decade. The first time Westlife didn't release an original Song as first Singe of a new Album was Mandy.
Brilliant version. Deserved to be number one. Quite crazy why Hey whatever and Obvious failed the Top. Now the first shock: Allow us to be frank. Of course you can't release every year high class original music..but Swing? This was the next reason why so many fans moved away from Westlife. What followed? Face to Face. 4 covers, 10 originals.
But what about the first two singels? Covers. Like Mandy did and the rose will, you raise me up went on no. 1. But the followers didn't. Even so, the b-sides of amazing were really, really high class pop songs. In my opinion Westlife scare their fans off more and more with all those covers. If they have had the courage to promote their albums first with That's Where You Find Love or Amazing, with Obvouis or with Something Right and Us against the world, they would have been much more successful. What misses is courage to trust in their still existing huge fanbase. But it reduces.

The Love Album. Just covers. The very last chance to save their success was with the new single of Back Home. (Hearing that simon "the cover boy" cowell wanted to do another themed album (best of movie songs) luckily Westlife showed us that they know it better to produce a band. They insisted on the last chance, an original Album.) But even so with this small success, they lost their chart-career now with Home. Over and out.
Westlife will stay at 14 no. one's. Due to Sony BMG. Thank you guys. Well done. Another Cover. That last chance to save Westlife is gone. Us Against the World will break all records for Westlife. In a sad way.
The first time Westlife will fail a Chartentering in the top 5.

There's almost no concurrence in the top 10. No real. And Westlife still don't achieve their 15th. This is a shame.

5 out of 5 stars Massive disappointment due for Westlife fans   March 6, 2008

Please refer to main CD and parent album for my combined review of this brilliant single.

It seems,as I type, that the marvellous 'Mercy' by Duffy will hold on to the top spot this coming Sunday.

I'm not angry with Duffy; power to her elbow.

I'm furious with Simon Cowell and the rest of Westlife's management team.
Mr. Cowell seems impervious to the fact that there is other music around, aside from the runners in his stable.

Diligent marketing would have shown Duffy may prove a threat, and release dates could have been juggled accordingly.

The same thing happened with 'Home' when he underestimated his own Leona and Take That. It's also alleged he pulled the plug on the lads' excellent cover of 'Total Eclipse'.

I quite liked 'Basshunter';but all due respect to its fans and the record itself, 5 weeks at no.1 does make me cringe; knowing that 'World' may not even make top 5.

Maybe the lads should do a 'Take That' and seek an amicable divorce from their management, 'cos at the moment they seem to have no chance of reaching the coveted number of 21 no.1 singles.

Yours in music (soon to be in MUSEic)---I do like other genres.

5 out of 5 stars vocal pop perfection   February 9, 2008

How I agree with most of 'candysatchel's comments of 31 Jan 08.

May I say that opinion should be respected and I am angered and saddened by the constant criticism of this marvellous vocal group. Is it that they are untainted by scandal and the tabloid press can't get near them!

I am 57 and bought 'Portrait of my love' by Matt Munroe at age 10 (out of my own pocket money) and have been in love with all sorts of music before and ever since (too many to go into here).

I currently admire Muse;Snow Patrol; Killers---do not like hip hop etc.

I do wish differentiation was made between vocal and musical bands in various best of TV shows.

Lastly there are very few records I listen to again and again.Gary Lightbody's Snow Patrol performing 'Run' and 'Chasing Cars' being the two of recent times.

That is until this Westlife masterpiece reached my ears. The vocal build up to an overlapping ecstastic state of harmonies can never have been bettered in this pop genre. Nicky and Kian are included in this wholesome praise.

Incidentally, the whole album is almost perfect (well, perfection doesn't exist,[apart from track 2 of course!]). So, if unsure or in doubt, do buy the album or at least this track. As for Westlife haters please remember respect and civility.

Lastly, if marketed correctly, I do believe this album could help the lads break their own record(no pun)of number ones in a calendar year and at least equal 5 from the same album. Tracks 11 and 10 should be released next, culminating in track 4(yes,I know it's a cover) being released at start Dec, (not to coincide with X factor or potential novelty record). I do not think track 3 should be released as a single, but there's other options.

Really lastly, how I miss the Tamla era (maybe when the boys were now't but a twinkle etc).

If music be the food of love etc.
