Pure Horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 26, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My title, pure horror, is definatly true. If you read this amazing book, you'll be obsessed to Daren Shan's blood-curdling, gruesome, chilling facts and I gurantee that they'll send shivers down your spine. This read is filled with sheer terror that, I promise, you won't regret if you buy and read this book!
Grubbs is back October 15, 2007 The 3rd book in the Demonata and we're back with my favorite characters Grubbs and Dervish.
To fully appreciate this book you need to read the Lord Loss and Demon Thief first, but I think you'd still enjoy this book even if you haven't read the previous 2.
I couldn't put this book down and was left hungry for more at the end.
I think this book would make a good film June 24, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Which is apt considering where most of the action takes place. Grubbs, Dervish and Billy are invited by horror film producer Davida Haym (I think that was her name, I can't really remember) to oversee the design of huge robotic demons which are going to be used in her upcoming film, Slawter. The designs are brilliant, and they could be mistaken for the real thing... Anywho, people start going missing and demons run riot, Lord Loss shows up and there is yet another showdown at the end. Simple. In this book Grubbs finds his magical powers vastly improved- He is melting holes in walls, reattaching severed limbs and severing a few of his own, and that's the most appealing thing of this series (not just this book) for me- it is such an ambiguous medium, there is literally anything which can happen with the simple explanation of 'it's magic', and when the action is this intense that's fine by me. A vast improvement on Demon Thief and Lord Loss. Very exciting.
Fantastic! May 23, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This series just keeps getting better and better. Another fab book that will leave you not wanting to put it until you've finished, and even then it just leaves you desperate to get hold the next one!
Slawter - Darren Shan - Book review March 7, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
f you have never read the books of Darren Shan, this book gives you a fantastic but true overview of his writing. The book suits very imaginative minds; it begins with a mystery and soon unravels into a tremendous plot, it has lots of twists and is full of horror. Darren Shan's "Demonata" Series focuses on a different character that appears back in each book so anything could happen to them. In this particular book Grubistch Grady is haunted by demons, and is encountered by another horrific event when a famous director comes to town with a proposal of a new horror film, you can see where this is going! When you read this book you can really feel the characters emotions as if you were in their shoes. The book never stops being interesting and keeps you on edge, you find yourself picking up the book whenever you get chance! Horror is not my favourite genre but Darren Shan incorporates this with adventure and mystery. The only fault with this book is well, with Darren Shan that he needs to write the next book quicker! If you like adventure, horror, magic and supernatural happenings this book is for you. You cant put it down, you are entranced into the book!
